The power of prayer is so over looked. Even in my own life and the peoples lives around me, the power of prayer is often over looked. especially by people that are young in their faith. Through prayer comes healings, through prayer, the labor for other peoples salvation is done, through prayer we communicate with God. Through prayer demons are cast out. Through prayer, not only do we prepare for the battle that is constantly surrounding us and our friends, but we fight it also. You can ask anybody that knows God about the power of prayer, and they will say miracles can be done via prayer, it is common head knowledge among the believers of Jesus Christ. The problem with that how ever is for a vast amount of people, is that most people comprehend the power of prayer, but they do not recognize it. They say they believe it, but their actions do not show it. This concept of the power of prayer needs to move about 16 inches from our brains to our heart. Although many people know that prayer is powerful, they have not experienced the power of prayer because they do not practice it. If prayer can do all of these awesome things, then how come people that say they know its powers, don’t pray for more than 5-10 minutes a day.
Prayer is not something that comes naturally. it is not something that you start of praying for hours on end. prayer takes practice and it needs to be taught. that is the purpose of today. it is hard for me to tell you that i want you to pray daily if i do not teach you how to pray.
luke 11: 2-13
2He said to them, “When you pray, say:
” ‘Father,[a]
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come.[b]
3Give us each day our daily bread.
4Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.[c]
And lead us not into temptation.
father, hallowed be your name: means that you spend time praising him. glory to your name
Your kingdom come: that means that you are seeking his will to be done. you desire for his will to be done in your life and in other peoples lives.
Give us each day our daily bread: Bread is associated with eating. The milk of the word is reading and understanding, but the meat and bread is doing the will. doing his will that we just asked for prior to that. It sustains us spiritually.
Forgive us of our sins as we have forgiven others: this means that we are repenting of our sins, and acknowledging what we did wrong and turning from them and then forgiving others and not holding grudges against those that have done harm against us.
Lead us not into temptation: help keep us pure and clean.
